| Hilo Waterfalls, Wildlife & Whales Waterfalls The tour begins as we exit the harbor with the band sand beach of Hilo Bay & Historical Hilo Town in the distance. While strolling through the Bay we'll see the Singing Bridge located on the Wailuku River. Continuing north we begin to see the signs of erosion currently taking place due to weathering and earthquakes. Surfers can be spotted surfing at Honolii, a popular Hilo hangout, on just about any day. We'll enjoy a wave or two then cruise to the first of our mystical waterfalls. Just around the corner is the a black sand beach sitting in front of the decaying Papakaou Sugar Mill which was one of three small sugar companies that made up Mauna Kea Sugar Company 1885-1947. Next its into the Garden of Eden better known as Onomea Bay. This amazing tropical display is visually stunning to say the least. The three sheltered valleys are covered in Palm Trees with the Onomea stream flowing down the mountain into the sea. At the mouth of the stream sits two rocks representing the lovers that gave their lives to protect the bay. At the north side of the bay once sat the famous landmark the Onomea Arch, the arch attracted visitors to Onomea Bay long before the Garden was established. Wildlife Dolphin Encounters - Sea Birds - Fish Life How about some dolphin fun? Daily we encounter 2 types of dolphins here on the East side the Spinner and Bottlenose Dolphins. The Spinners are multi colored (grays & white Belly) are best known for their playful attitude and acrobatic maneuvers, quite often seen jumping well out of the water while spinning 4+ times. When excited you will see the belly turn pink to red. The Bottlenose dolphin is dark gray in color and is a much larger dolphin. Make sure you have plenty of film. Various types of seabirds can be scene feeding along the trip. Whales Humpback - Pilot - Sperm Winter is just around the corner and whale season is here. Regular sighting are reported of Maui as of now but that means there in our waters already. Many of the local whales can only be seen from land however the amazing experience from the water from these mighty mammals while paint a memory you wont soon forget. What Should I Bring - dress as for a dinner outing, bring a light
