We're not the most accessible tour on the
island, but theres a reason our customers keep coming back time
after time. Po'hoiki Bay also known as Isacc Hale Beach park is
located on the East side of the Big Island. Your adventures starts
on the way to the boat ramp you'll find yourself winding down the
highway through giant Albeezia & Mango trees that create a canopy
over the highway past Lava Tree State Park and finally you'll arrive
at the boat ramp.
Aloha & Welcome
We look forward to providing you a first
rate ocean adventure you'll never forget here on the South Eastside
of the Big Island Once underway we'll head South toward Volcanoes
National Park.
All aboard!
Our goal is to give you a lava experience like no other. After a
quick safety briefing from the crew we're underway. From the get
go this is an exciting adventure tour. As we pull out of the boat
ramp we'll pass surfers, surfing the famous waves here at Po'hoiki
Bay. Our first stop along the way is MacKensie
State Park a popular local hangout and fishing area best
noted for its giant Uluas. Along the coast there are numerous black
sand beaches including Kehena Beach. Foxes
Beach, and Kalapana/Kaimu Beach which has returned since
its destruction in the mid 80's. During most of the trip you can
look up the mountain where the volcano continues to puff out Vog.
Just outside Kalapana is the Cave of Refuge,
once a shelter for women & children during warfare. As the tropical
vegitation turns to frozen flows we enter the freshly lava covered
coastline of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
This area shows the remains from the various flows that touched
the sea. Currently we're experiencing regular bench break offs which
once triggered, avalanche into the depths below leaving amazing
cross sections of cooling lava and lava tubes scattered along the
cliffs left behind. Drips and lava sculptures blanket the coastline
as if it was still flowing. A once in a lifetime journey to the
center of life.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park -
the newest land on earth created within the last 6 months, lava
sculptures, bench breaks, pristine black sand beaches that were
recently created and may be gone after the next earthquake (Sorry
most are already gone).
When the Lava' s RED HOT-
No better way to see lava hands down. We
observe Peles magnificent Rivers of Fire
cascading into the Pacific Ocean. The Sizzling Sounds and heat off
the lava will impress even the most seasoned travelers. This special
occurrence happens periodically and can be here today gone tomorrow,
so when its hot don't wait.
Experience
Lava - When
Cooling
Until the rivers return to the sea we will be running a special
2 hour tour highlighting the past & present Kilauea Lava flows
that have entered the ocean over the past 25 years. Some tour favorites
include the Giant Cliffs created from
the East Lae'apuki 65 acre bench break
leaving behind exposed lava tubes, the cooling Waikupinaha
lava bench which is so fresh it could still begin flowing again,
the short lived Ki flow with its newly formed black sand beach,
the Campout flow a year since it last
touched the sea, & other amazing flows. Alondg the coast we
also see 3 tropical black sands beaches Foxes
Beach, Kalapana, & Kehena whose exotic landscape have
capivated guests & locals for years.
